Project X descends on Drayton Manor

Drayton Manor Theme Park in Tamworth, Staffordshire, has revealed its new headline ride for 2005. Called Project X, the £3m attraction takes riders through high-banked twists at speeds of up to 43mph (70kph).

The 385m-long ride peaks at a height of 23m and features a hip-restraint system, leaving passengers dangling completely free during the ride.

The coaster has two six-seater trains and will be able to experience G Force of up to 4.3 at its highest point.

The ride, which is due to open in July, was designed and built by German Company Maurer Söhne.
