Held at the five-star Aeneas Hotel, the event hosted individual meetings as well as a discussion forum lead by a panel of prominent characters; Theo Hendriks, MD of the Sport and Leisure Group in Holland; Christophe Andanson, president of Planet Fitness, France; Uwe Gorrikson, purchasing executive for Europe Fitness First and Mathias Kiehn, MD of Johnson Health Tech.

The forum questioned the values of a brand in crossing borders and highlighted the commonality of issues across Europe, particularly in relation to creating the right balance between price, value and service.

Hendriks said the event continued to be valuable: “The European market is growing in some countries like Holland, Russia and Spain, but the conference also allows you to compare with countries facing more difficulties like Germany.

“Talking about your business openly with others, about the threats and opportunities, will only help move the fitness market forward.”
