Spa Village to open in June

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will open the 10,000sq m (107,000sq ft) Chi Spa Village at the Mactan Island Resort in Lapu Lapu City in the Philippines in June.

Located within the hotel’s gardens, the spa was designed by B.U. BE and will feature a number of treatment pavilions which will include six 135sq m (1,450sq ft) private villas for couples and eight single garden treatment rooms.

Other facilities include the Chi water garden which incorporates an infinity edge vitality pool, herbal steamrooms, body scrub salas, a spa pool and a traditional watsu pool.

The resort’s 200sq m (2,100sq ft) Grand Spa Villa will operate as a ‘spa within a spa’, with a treatment room big enough to accommodate four people at one time.

The treatments at Chi Spa Village will mix traditional Himalayan healing and Chinese medicine and include a range of body massages, hydrotherapy, body scrubs and facials. The spa also includes on-site training facilities for therapists.

The spa will be Shangri-La’s second Chi-branded spa and the group is planning to have 11 Chi spas by the end of 2006.
