New Zealand hotel has just 10 rooms

A new 10-bedroom boutique hotel – in which each room cost around NZ$70,000 (£27,000, US$49,000, 40,000 euros) – has opened in the alpine resort of Queenstown, New Zealand.

Designed by NZ-based architects Archimedia, the 1,000sq m (10,800sq ft) Spire Hotel is owned by three NZ companies: Versan Properties, Harbour City Developments and a hospitality management company headed by Christiaan Palsenbarg and Eric Wegman.

The Spire Hotel has a 16-cover restaurant and a contemporary art collection.
