Geauga expands amusement park

Geauga Lake family Amusement Park in Aurora, Ohio, has completed the first phase of a US$26m (21.3m, euros £14.5m) expansion programme.

The new Wildwater Kingdom occupies an area of around 20 acres and includes a two new rides – Thunder Falls and the Splash Landing.

Thunder Falls is a 100ft-tall waterslide complex which carries riders up to speeds of 30mph on its seven slides.

Splash Landing has more than 70 different water gadgets, seven water slides and a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket.

Phase two of the development is due for completion in 2006 and includes a 60ft tornado slide and two new four-dimensional movies in the motion simulator and 4D theatre.

The work will also allow Geauga Lake, which is located on a former Sea World site, to utilise the original wildlife property’s front gates, restaurants, restrooms and parking facilities. Details: www.geaugalake.com
