16 Jan 2006 Australian Royal Life Saving Society unveils summer holiday water safety tips |
![]() The Royal Life Saving Society Australia has developed an online interactive training course to educate families about water safety in different aquatic locations. The site contains four ‘Be Water Safe This Summer’ modules – Water Safe Holidays at Home, Water Safe Coastal Holidays, Water Safe Rural Holidays and Water Safe Water Sports – each offering tips, safety quizzes and information on different aquatic environments. “With the Water Safe modules we aim to make water safety information easily accessible for as many people as possible,” said Penny Flint, National Education and training manager, Royal Life Saving. “If kids answer the interactive questions with a bit of help from mum and dad, it is a great way to educate the entire family,” Traditionally drowning figures and aquatic accidents peak over the summer period as more people take to the water, possibly in locations they are unfamiliar with. “With the school holidays’ starting, whether you are going away or staying close to home, this is the ideal time to take a look at some safety information on different aquatic environments,” said Flint.
