Sol Meliá has officially opened the US$120m (£67m, 97m euro) Paradisus Palma Real resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, following a successful soft opening in December 2005. The five-star, all-inclusive resort comprises 554 suites with private spa baths, three swimming pools – a 37,600sq ft (3,500sq m) beachfront pool and two children’s pools – a full-service signature spa and health club, a kite surf centre and a casino. The resort’s seven restaurants include an Asian bistro with a sushi bar and an adults only dining venue, as well as six bars. The hotel offers a royal service option to 102 suites, which provides personal butlers and access to a private lounge, swimming pool and beach area.
