07 Jun 2006 Kor Hotel Group acquires Mexico’s Ikal del Mar Resort |
![]() Los Angeles-based Kor Hotel Group has acquired the five-star Ikal del Mar Resort on Mexico’s Riviera Maya. The property will continue to be managed by its current operator, Houston-based ProHotel International. Ikal del Mar includes 30 standalone palapas set in six acres, with suites boasting their own plunge pools and private terraces. There is also a jungle spa featuring a yoga studio and Maya Temazcal steam treatment cave. Kor Hotel Group, part of the privately-owned real estate investment, development and management company, Kor Group, also owns and operates the Viceroy Santa Monica and Viceroy Palm Springs and The Jefferson in Washington DC. A new Resorts & Residences division is currently undertaking the development of two residential resort complexes in Miami – Viceroy Icon Brickell and Viceroy South Beach – two on Mexico’s Riviera Maya – Viceroy Riviera Maya and The Tides Playa del Carmen – as well as the Viceroy Anguilla in the British West Indies.
