An investment of 13m euro (£9m) at the Genova site has seen the creation of a 4,000sq m (43,000sq ft) terrace featuring a swimming pool, football pitch, tennis court, basketball court and indoor volleyball court.

In Florence, the 10,000sq m (108,000sq ft) extension offers four swimming pools – two of which are indoor – plus a climbing wall, tennis court, football pitch, solarium with sunbeds, and a relaxation area.

Virgin Active Italy has also announced that Luca Valotta has recently been promoted from managing director to president.
