Starbucks to significantly expand in Japan

Starbucks Japan has announced plans to open a further 1,000 outlets in the country as part of its long-term expansion plans.

The coffee shop company – which currently owns 624 outlets – proposes to open at least 100 stores per year, with 75 already planned for 2006.

Starbucks Japan reported a 51 per cent increase in annual net profit in May following a year of strong sales. Details: www.starbucks.com
