Sydney Tower celebrates anniversary with discounted entry

Sydney Tower in Australia will be celebrating its 25th birthday this year by offering 25 per cent off the cost of entry throughout September.

The attraction – which includes the OzTrek virtual tour of Australia and the Sydney Skywalk glass observation deck – will also be hosting Tower Run-up and Walk-up events on 1 September. Athletes are tipped to ascend the 1,504 steps in less than eight minutes.

The Sydney Tower, which opened on 27 September 1981 at a cost of AUS$36m (US$27.6m, £14.6m, 21.7m euro) is the tallest tower in Australia at 305m (1,000ft) high.

Between 2000 and 2003 the tower boasted three massive sculptures of athletes for the 2000 Olympic Games. Details: www.sydneytoweroztrek.com.au
