Butch Kerzner killed in helicopter accident

Howard “Butch” Kerzner, chief executive officer of Kerzner International, died yesterday (11 October) in a helicopter accident in the Dominican Republic.

Kerzner, 42, was surveying potential development sites for the company with one other passenger and two pilots when the accident happened. There were no survivors.

In a statement, the company said that Butch’s father – chair and founder Sol Kerzner – is “en route to the Dominican Republic, after which he will immediately return to the company’s headquarters in the Bahamas”.

Paul O’Neil, former chief executive of Kerzner International’s Paradise Island casino resort, has been appointed acting CEO.
