BuzzSaw Falls to debut at Alabama Adventure

BuzzSaw Falls is to be the name of the new Shoot-the-Chutes attraction at the Alabama Adventure amusement park in the US.

Because the name was submitted in a 'Name the Ride' contest anonymously, Alabama Adventure - owned by Adrenaline Family Entertainment and situated near Birmingham, AL - is donating the grand prize package to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The package contains four 2011 Season Passes, a rentals season pass, a parking season pass and a chance for three to four families staying in the Birmingham Ronald McDonald House to be among the first to ride BuzzSaw Falls.

The new ride is being supplied by New Hampshire-based SkyTrans Manufacturing.

To be located adjacent to the park's kiddie rides area, BuzzSaw Falls will be 610ft (186m) long, just over 50ft (15.25m) in height and feature two large boats each with seating for 20 riders.

After climbing to a height of five storeys, the boats will make a U-turn and then drop toward the ground. The resulting splash is designed to soak both riders and onlookers.

BuzzSaw Falls is currently under construction and scheduled to open in the spring of 2011.
