Garland Leisure acquires Blackpool Bowl
BY Pete Hayman

Garland Leisure has finalised the purchase of the 30,000sq ft (2,787sq m) Blackpool Bowl ten-pin bowling venue in the heart of the Lancashire resort.

Edward Symmons' hospitality and leisure division acted on behalf of Garland to secure the acquisition from liquidator Bennett Verby LLP.

Fully fitted-out with 30 ten-pin bowling lanes, Blackpool Bowl is now poised to reopen and is the 12th bowling centre to be acquired by Garland after buying 11 facilities from AMF.

Garland's Mehdi Afshar said: "We intend to re-open Blackpool Bowl, investing in a comprehensive £750,000 refurbishment that will bring it back to its former glory.

"With no other bowling centres currently operating in Blackpool, there is clearly significant potential to capitalise on the leisure needs of the local population."
