Part of the Starwood group, the hotel has been built around a central lagoon and its spa is part of a larger, 8,000sq ft (743sq m) wellness centre, which also has a gym, sauna and indoor lap pool.

A second Westin property in New Zealand, the Westin Queenstown, will open in 2009 as part of the Kawarau Falls Station development.
