Mövenpick unveils second Thailand resort

Switzerland-based operator Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts has announced the launch of its second property in Thailand - Mövenpick Residences Laguna Beach Phuket.

The company has rebranded the Palm Beach Club hotel after taking over the management of the property, which will now complement the Mövenpick Resort and Spa Karon Beach Phuket resort opened in 2006.

Mövenpick Residences Laguna Beach Phuket is located on Bang Tao Beach and features a Blossom Spa, which features separate male and female sauna rooms with a dip pool.

The spa area also provides two single and one couple's treatment rooms, offering a range of traditional Thai treatments in addition to Asian and European-inspired therapies.

Facilities also include a Technogym-equipped fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool and the Palm Cuisine Restaurant. Some of the resort's 39 residences feature a private pool or whirlpool.

Andreas Mattmüller, Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts chief operating officer for Middle East and Asia, said: "We have plans to increase our portfolio in the country and to operate six hotels in Thailand by 2014."

Diamond Management Co is the owner of the resort.
