Cedar Fair to expand Pennsylvania park

Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Pennsylvania, US, is set to expand after operator Cedar Fair Entertainment Company's bid to acquire an adjacent area of land was accepted.

Lehigh County has agreed to sell the 6.75-acre (2.73-hectare) site in a US$2.75m (£1.7m) deal, pending approval from the Lehigh County Commissioners.

The purchase of the land will enable Cedar Fair to enhance the visitor experience at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom with the introduction of new rides and further development.

Cedar Fair president and chief executive officer Dick Kinzel said: "We are excited about the expansion and development opportunities this additional space will provide to Dorney Park, as well as the increased economic impact it will have for the county."

Meanwhile, Cedar Fair has confirmed that chief financial officer Peter J Crage is to resign from his post effective 22 June in order to pursue a "new professional opportunity".

Crage has served in the position for 2005, while the company has insisted that his departure will not affect its ongoing search for a new president and CEO to succeed Kinzel.
