College sports facilities evolving

Temporary structures specialist Neptunus has provided a gymnasium for the Den Hulster College in Venlo, the Netherlands, after a substantial increase in student intake led to a shortfall in its sports facilities.

The company installed a semi-permanent 400sq m (4,305sq ft) Evolution structure in just 15 days and with the minimum of disruption to the College's timetable.

The fully re-locatable structure is complete with lighting, heating, ventilation, changing rooms and a specially manufactured sports floor.

It will remain in place for at least five years, after which Den Hulster will review whether its requirement for extra capacity is still justified.

Available in 10 - 60m (33 - 197ft) clear span widths, unlimited lengths and sidewall heights up to 13m (43ft), the Evolution provides ample space for a wide range of sports.

The structure also comes with insulated rigid wall panels and roof options that reduce emissions. The range of optional features includes doors, windows, internal walls, mezzanine floors and staircases.

Externally the structure can be branded with company logos and the wall panels come in a range of colours to either blend in with the surroundings or make a statement.

Neptunus has also recently provided temporary sports hall solutions to Esporta Health Club following a fire, Cranfield University during a refurbishment project and the Defence Academy's military staff training college in Shrivenham while it underwent expansion.
