Loews Hotels appoints new president and CEO

Paul W Whetsell, founder of the original CapStar Hotel Company in 1987, has been named as the new president and chief executive officer of New York, US-based Loews Hotel.

Whetsell has more than 35 years of experience within the hospitality sector and has recently served as a board member at Virgin Hotels, helping to guide its operations and acquisitions.

Loews Hotels currently operates 18 hotels and resorts across the US and Canada, including the 414-bedroom Loews Atlanta Hotel which opened its doors to guests in April 2010.

Other members of the Loews portfolio include the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, which boasts an Elemis Spa with 16 treatment rooms; a whirlpool; a sun deck and a relaxation lounge.

Whetsell succeeds Jack Adler, who is retiring from the hotel owner/operator.
