15 Feb 2012 WHO confirms 'Healthy City' status for Cork BY Pete Hayman |
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced that Cork, Ireland, has become one latest cities to receive "Healthy City" status for its work to promote healthier lifestyles. Cork - together with Copenhagen, Denmark, and Nantes, France - have been designated by WHO as a result of its work to place health at the heart of administration. Lord mayor Terry Shannon said: "The Healthy City initiative will bring all the key stakeholders together to look at ways in which to make Cork a healthier place to live. "The City Health profile provides a snapshot on the state of health in the city and it will guide the development of a plan to make Cork a more healthy place in which live, work and play."
