Arts Council of Northern Ireland launches Intercultural Arts Strategy
BY Pete Hayman

Arts Council of Northern Ireland (ACNI) has announced the launch of its first-ever Intercultural Arts Strategy in a bid to recognise the province's increasing cultural diversity.

The strategy urges the promotion of "cultural pluralism" and features six strategic themes, each of which help deliver the Northern Ireland Assembly's Programme for Government.

A new funding programme will also be launched by ACNI this autumn, which is designed to strengthen ethnic minority arts infrastructure across Northern Ireland.

ACNI chief executive Roisin McDonough said: "We plan to invest an initial £300,000 over the next three years in promoting cultural diversity, using the arts to help develop good relations and importantly to help tackle racism and deliver a better future for everyone."
