EDF Energy announces plans for Sizewell B visitor centre

UK energy supplier EDF Energy has submitted a planning application for the creation of a temporary new visitor centre at Sizewell B nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast.

Suffolk Coastal District Council will be responsible for deciding the fate of the Parsons Brinckerhoff-designed project, with the Sizewell B visitor centre due to open towards the end of the summer if approved.

An existing mobile cabin building to the north of the power station site will house the visitor centre, which will operate for four years until a permanent attraction can be developed.

Sizewell B power station director Jim Crawford said: "This visitor centre will allow us to introduce people to our operation in a safe, informative and attractive environment."
