Accor has celebrated the opening of its 500th hotel in the Asia Pacific region with the launch of Pullman Gurgaon Central Park, a 285-bedroom property in the Indian state of Haryana.

The France-based hospitality group now has nearly 95,000 bedrooms in 16 countries and is planning to operate 700 hotels by 2015; 90 of which will be located in India.

Michael Issenberg, Accor Asia Pacific chief operating officer, said: "Asia-Pacific is one of Accor's strongest areas of focus, as is evidenced by our rapid expansion in recent years."

A Mandara-branded spa - operated under a contract signed with Steiner Leisure last year - will be added to the facilities at Pullman Gurgaon Central Park by late July/early August.

The spa will include four single treatment rooms with rain showers and a double treatment room with whirlpool and steam shower, as well as two outdoor massage pavilions.

Hotel facilities also include the Sen5es, La Riviera and Pondichery restaurants, the latter of which is a rooftop eatery opening later this year, as well as a swimming pool and a fitness centre.

Pullman global marketing director Xavier Louyot said the new hotel forms part of its growth strategy in Asia Pacific. "Many others openings will follow this New Delhi inauguration," he said.
