26 Jun 2012 Lottery winners donate £102,000 towards Inverclyde sports project BY Pete Hayman |
Colin and Chris Weir, the UK's largest winners of the Europe-wide EuroMillions lottery, have donated £102,000 towards the upgrade of sports facilities in Inverclyde. Four tennis courts and two seven-a-side football pitches have been replaced and new five-a-side pitches have been added at sportscotland's National Sports Training Centre. The donation also helped fund improvements to drainage and landscaping at the facility, which is available on a casual pay-and-play basis or through booking. Colin Weir said: "As well as attracting school kids and sports men and women from all over Scotland to Largs, it is a tremendous facility for local people to keep fit and enjoy the camaraderie and passion of sport."
