Genting UK has announced it is to undertake an extensive refurbishment of its casinos in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, and Reading, Berkshire, in a multi-million pound investment.

The transformation of Genting Club Reading will include the addition of facilities such as a Fahrenheit Grill restaurant and contemporary bar area, as well as private VIP booths.

Interactive touch-tables; an improved poker area; and updated gaming floor are also planned as part of the project, along with the creation of a dedicated entertainment area with stage.

Similar improvements are also proposed for the seafront Genting Club Westcliff, which was formerly called Maxims. An outside deck that overlooks the Thames Estauary will also be enhanced.

Paul Willock, managing director for Genting's provincial estate, said of the Westcliff plans: "I am confident that we will be offering one of the best all-round entertainment venues in Essex once the work is complete."

Earlier this year, the company - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genting Malaysia - said it would be carrying out refurbishments at its locations in Manchester and Liverpool.
