09 Jul 2012 New entertainment venue planned for historic Preston building BY Pete Hayman |
A new leisure and entertainment venue is planned for Preston's Grade II-listed Conservative Club building, following its acquisition by Preston Plastics founder Edgar Wallace. The three-storey building on Guildhall Street is known as the "old Fives building" and first opened in 1878. It later became Fives and 49s bar and restaurant, which closed in 2006. A refurbishment is currently being undertaken inside the building, with Wallace in talks with potential tenants to take over its operation as the city's newest leisure destination. Close Window |
