Eden District Council (EDC) contributed £62,000 towards new equipment provided by Life Fitness, which includes resistance and cardiovascular machines and are IFI-accredited. Concept II rowers and two Trixter bikes have also been installed in the new-look gym, while North Country Leisure (NCL) invested £30,000 in decoration and building works. The work was completed within two weeks and is one of a number of ventures being carried out by EDC and NCL, the latter of which took over as local leisure operator in April. NCL Eden board chair Ian White said: "It is imperative that we can provide the best equipment and a comfortable atmosphere to make everyone's workout more enjoyable."
