William Morris Gallery to reopen in August

The William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, London, will reopen to the public on 2 August following a £10m redevelopment.
The work has included the refurbishment and extension of the Grade II gallery building - providing more exhibition space - and the creation of a new learning centre with school space, library and a meeting room.
The investment is part of plans to establish the gallery as a world-class destination and international centre of excellence for the study of William Morris, considered by some as one of the foremost creative artists and original thinkers of the nineteenth century.
Home to the Morris family from 1848 to 1856, the gallery houses 600 objects across 12 galleries illustrating Morris' life, achievements and continuing influence, including woven and printed fabrics, ceramics, wallpaper, furniture and his political works.
The redevelopment was funded by the gallery private donations and a £3.5m joint grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund.
The William Morris Gallery was first opened in 1950 by the then Prime Minister Clement Attlee.
