Euromillions winners donate £130,000 to Beacon Arts Centre

Beacon Arts Centre, currently under construction in Greenock, Scotland, has received an unexpected financial boost from Euromillions winners Chris and Colin Weir.

The Weirs, who became Europe's biggest-ever lottery winners when they won the £161m jackpot in July 2011, have handed a cheque for £130,000 over to the new venue's operator, Greenock Arts Guild.

The LDN Architects-designed Beacon Arts Centre is on course to open later this year and will replace Greenock Arts Guild Theatre, which has been operating for more than 60 years.
