03 Aug 2012 Orkney swimming pool scheme on course for November completion BY Pete Hayman |
Work on the construction of a swimming pool at the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, remains on course for completion this November, according to the local authority. Orkney Islands Council (OIC) said that the six-lane facility is now due to be tiled, with work also being completed on three squash courts and changing areas as part of a new extension. Other facilities will include a teaching pool, a toddler pool and a sauna and steamroom. Once work is completed on tiling the main pool, a moveable floor will be installed. OIC project director Alan Moar said: "The pool will meet the latest standards for a facility of this kind - it's good to see the care that is going into getting things right."
