Chobham Manor will be located between the Athletes' Village and the Lee Valley VeloPark - where the Basketball Arena is currently situated - and will feature 870 new homes. The design of the neighbourhood incorporates tree-lined avenues and will be supported by a health centre, nurseries and community spaces. Work is due to begin in October. LLDC chief executive Andrew Altman said: "Having secured outline planning approval, we now have the developer in place to create the first of five neighbourhoods." London mayor Boris Johnson added: "With the incredible energy of London 2012 captivating audiences across the world, the long-term legacy of the Olympic Park is quietly going from strength to strength."
