Visitor dies after riding Drayton Manor's Maelstrom
BY Tom Walker

A female guest has died at Drayton Manor theme park near Tamworth, Staffordshire, after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest.

Named locally as Carla Knight, the mother-of-two had just got off the park's Maelstrom ride when she collapsed and - despite the efforts of first-aiders - died at the scene.

Maelstrom is a steel gyro swing ride by Swiss manufacturer Intamin. It opened in 2002 and has a swing height of 22m (72ft) and a swing angle of 95 degrees.
