16 Aug 2012 £750,000 fitness investment planned for Staffordshire leisure centre BY Pete Hayman |
Wigan Leisure and Cultural Trust (WLCT) has announced plans for a £750,000 investment in extending and improving the fitness offer at Staffordshire's Rugeley Leisure Centre. A new Profiles Health and Fitness Suite is to be introduced to the facility, with the extension to add130sq m (1,399sq ft) to the gym - creating a total floorspace of 379sq m (4,080sq ft). The fitness suite will contain 80 pieces of Technogym equipment if the plans approved, with the trust submitting a planning application to Cannock Chase Council. Earlier this year, WLCT was appointed to operate local leisure facilities under a 10-year contract on behalf of the council. The deal will see a total of more than £2m invested. WLCT chief executive Stuart Murray said: "When work is completed Rugeley will have a top of the range health and fitness facility with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment."
