Scottish Canoeing has been awarded £60,000 to help capitalise on the surge of interest which the Olympics have generated for the sport. Tayside & Fife Regional Sporting Partnership is providing the cash, which will be used to recruit a peformance coach and move forward with plans to create an excellence hub for slalom canoeing in Perthshire. The Scottish Canoeing Association is keen build on the success of Olympic gold and silver medallists, Tim Baillie and David Florence. Performance director, Remi Gaspard, says: "There is a lot of talent coming through the system at the moment and so we need to reinforce our coaching resources to support the athletes on every step of the performance pathway."
