04 Oct 2012 New use proposed for greyhound stadium BY Kath Hudson |
Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium could become a 10-15,000-seat football stadium in a proposal put forward by the Greyhound Racing Authority. As well as a football stadium, the proposal includes 450-500 homes and a substantial retail store. It also includes community benefits, such as coaching courses to promote sport to young people across London. Merton Council cabinet member for environmental sustainability and regeneration, Councillor Andrew Judge, says this is a positive move which could bring AFC Wimbledon back home to Merton. The GRA will consult with partners over the coming months to flesh out the plans. Close Window |
