Leisure trust takes over former Fitness First club
BY Tom Walker

Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) has taken over the former Fitness First club at Lockwood Park, Huddersfield.

The club, which has been rebranded as Lockwood Park Health & Fitness Club, was handed over to the trust on 1 December and all staff have been retained.

Existing Fitness First members will be transferred across to a KAL Fitness Membership in stages, giving them access to gyms, pools and classes across all 12 KAL-operated sites.

Alasdair Brown, KAL's chief executive, said: "This is a very exciting development. KAL can now provide an even more extensive and value for money health and fitness offer to the people of south Kirklees, complementing the existing excellent provision at the Stadium, Huddersfield Sports Centre and the Deighton Sports Arena.

"We hope that the existing customers at Lockwood Park appreciate the changes that we've made already, with further investment planned for the months to come."
