Leisure Connection signs deal with payasUgym.com

Management company Leisure Connection is to make its gym and leisure facilities available through online gym booking service payasUgym.com.

All sites operated by Leisure Connection across the country will be searchable on the payasUgym.com website from mid-March, meaning that consumers will be able to pay for and book single, weekly or monthly usage passes online.

Kevin Yates, head of fitness marketing communications at Leisure Connection, said: "Health and fitness is a rapidly evolving industry, and it's absolutely vital that large operators like ourselves keep abreast of new methods and technologies to engage the local community.

"Like all great technologies, payasUgym.com is based around a really simple idea: how to make going to the gym easier. It's something that we are constantly trying to improve and we hope this online, external booking system will help convince those hard-to-reach."

First launched in February 2011, PayasUgym is the brainchild of entrepreneurs Neil Harmsworth and Jamie Ward.

The online gym network utilises smartphone technology for customers to locate a gym, book a session and pay per each visit without membership fees.

More than 1,000 gyms and health clubs of all sizes are currently signed up with the service.

In November 2012, payasUgym struck a deal with retail giant Tesco which allows Tesco Clubcard customers to use their Clubcard points to purchase gym passes for health clubs and leisure centres across the UK.
