£19 million Everyone Active Acton Centre completed

Ealing Council’s £19m redevelopment of Acton Town Hall in west London is complete, with the new leisure centre due to open this Saturday (19 April) after 22 months of construction.

The comprehensive redesign – drawn up by S&P Architects and carried out by Willmott Dixon – has resulted in the addition of a 100-station gym, eight-lane 25m swimming pool, 12m training pool with movable floor, two dance studios, multipurpose rooms and a library.

The gym has been kitted out with the Precor Experience Series range, including treadmills, upright and recumbent bikes, elliptical crosstrainers and Concept II Rowers. There is also Precor Vitality Series strength equipment, Wattbikes, Power Plate machines and Trixter bikes, as well as a new dedicated functional training area with an X Cube and Total Gym equipment for small group GRAVITY training.

“Huge amounts of work have gone into this project which will bring first-class sport and leisure facilities to the borough and give local people all the amenities they need to achieve their health and fitness goals,” said Duncan Jefford, south east regional director at Everyone Active – which will operate the facility on behalf of Ealing Council.

To celebrate the completion, Everyone Active is hosting a free open day for the local community on Saturday 10 May. The day will be hosted by Olympic swimmer and sports presenter Steve Parry and will see a number of team GB swimmers in attendance including Fran Leighton, Adam Scholefield, Adele Calsen, Vicki Lucas and six-time world champion swimmer Mark Foster.
