38,000sq ft Spa Castle coming to central Manhattan

Spa Castle, the wellness centre in Queens, New York, is set to open a Manhattan facility, the third outpost for the company following the 2012 launch of its second site in Texas' Carrollton.

The 38,000sq ft (3,530sq m) Spa Castle Premiere will be located in Midtown Manhattan on the site of a former New York Health & Racquet gym and will occupy three levels of saunas, pools, indoor waterfalls and a sundeck.

It is not yet known when the new site will open, according to The Daily Mail but the project will be designed, constructed and operated in-house.

Owned by C Castle Group, the original Spa Castle in Queens features an aqua bar, four pools – including a Japanese ‘hinoki bath’ which is lined with fragrant pine wood. The spa also has a waterfall and eight saunas – one of which includes a colour-therapy sauna and another is lined with plates of gold. The plates are made with 98 per cent real gold, which Spa Castle claims soothes sore limbs and helps to regulate blood pressure.

A diverse range of treatments are available, including hand and foot reflexology, a golden caviar facial and a raw Korean scrub treatment.
