Newly-acquired Irish club becomes largest in énergie estate

énergie Fitness is the new operator of Naas Health and Fitness, a 31,000sq ft (2,880sq m) health club in North Kildare, Ireland, which replaces Wilmslow as the largest club in the énergie estate.

Abbey Fitness and Wellness, the master licensee for the énergie franchise in Ireland, has taken over the club on the outskirts of Dublin on a 10-year lease for an undisclosed sum.

Naas Health and Fitness has served the local community of Monread for 14 years and draws members from the North Kildare suburban area to the facilities, which include a gym, 25m (82ft) swimming pool, studio classes, indoor climbing wall and three squash courts.

“We have worked together with the former owners of the club to build a great relationship for us to springboard from – énergie is committed to making Naas Health and Fitness its flagship club in Ireland,” said MD of Abbey Fitness and Wellness Jim Durie, who also mentioned plans for a potential dual membership scheme between Naas and the nearest énergie in Newbridge.

With 15 health clubs in Ireland and counting, énergie hopes to continue its expansion in the Irish market.

“We are delighted to see our master franchisee in Ireland make yet another acquisition as they drive forward their development plans for the énergie and Fit4Less Brands,” said chair of the énergie group Jan Spaticchia.
