Kempinski loses UK presence after terminating contract on The Stafford London

International hotel operator Kempinski no longer has a presence in the UK market after the management agreement for The Stafford London by Kempinski was terminated.

The company took over management of the century-old hotel – home to the famous American Bar – in 2010 and oversaw a £6m (US$9.9m, €7.5m) refurb in 2010, as well as the 100th anniversary celebrations in 2012.

According to a Kempinski statement, the two parties came to a 'mutual and amicable agreement' to end the contract.

Kempinski will continue to take reservations for the London location, now renamed The Stafford London, until 10 September 2014.

Staff and management at the hotel – owned by Britannia Hospitality – are unaffected by the move. A statement from The Stafford said a 'new partnership and affiliation announcement' would follow next week.
