Six Flags reinvents Batman, Colossus rides for 2015

Six Flags has announced a medley of new attractions opening across its parks in 2015.

“Innovation is part of our DNA and we look forward to introducing another exhilarating roster of rides and attractions for our guests in every park next season,” said Six Flags CEO Jim Reid-Anderson. “New (developments) in every park have driven all-time-high guest satisfaction and record financial results over the last four years, and we are excited to build on our strong momentum.”

Set to satisfy the thrillseekers, Six Flags Magic Mountain is reinventing its legendary Twisted Colossus wooden rollercoaster, Six Flags Fiesta Texas will debut a brand new interpretation of Batman: The Ride, and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is launching a single-loop thrill ride named Dare Devil Chaos Coaster.

The pendulum-style thrill ride Dare Devil Chaos Coaster

Six Flags Fiesta Texas’s Batman-themed attraction is a new-concept, eight-seater 4D wing coaster featuring beyond-90-degree drops. It uses magnetic technology to enable the riders to flip head over heels and feel weightless. “Batman: The Ride is an entirely new concept in ride engineering and will provide a sensory experience like no other coaster. The unanticipated tumbling will add even more thrills as riders travel along the dipping and swirling track,” said park president Martin Bozer.

The redesign of the classic Twisted Colossus – by Rocky Mountain Construction – is another pioneering venture, using cutting-edge ride technology to create a hybrid coaster. The steel track is specifically adapted for wood-structure coasters, enabling exciting turns and inversions that were not previously possible.

Meanwhile, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will be inviting next season’s visitors to try a single-loop full revolution track ride. The 360-degree Dare Devil Chaos Coaster, a Larson International ride, suspends riders upside down at the top of the circuit before reversing.

Other attractions announced by the billion-dollar turnover US park operator include 3D interactive dark ride Justice League: Battle for Metropolis at both Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags St Louis; a hybrid coaster called Wicked Cyclone at Six Flags New England, and The Joker Chaos Coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. Six Flags in Canada and Mexico will also launch new rides.
