Slagharen's €6m waterpark development opening in May

A €6m (US$6.7m, £4.3m) waterpark in the Netherlands is entering the final stages of development before its grand opening at Slagharen on 1 May.

The 5,200sq m (56,000sq ft) development – known as Aqua Mexicana – consists of 10 slides supplied by Van Egdom, totalling 546m (1,791ft) in length. Madrid-based Rocas & Design has worked on the design of the waterpark, while construction work has been carried out by Slagharen with the help of local sub-contractors.

The waterpark follows a Mexican theme, and will include both indoor (3,172sq m, 10,406sq ft) and outdoor (2,083sq m, 6,833sq ft) facilities. Three of the waterpark’s slides will include special effects, sounds and 3D animations. The park will also feature a ‘bubble bath’ with a capacity for 70 people. For kids, the park includes an aquatic play area, while there will also be a terrace with seating and dining options.
