24 Jun 2015 Flame Awards 2015: The winners list in full BY Jak Phillips |
![]() The physical activity sector’s brightest and best were honoured this evening (24 June) as 14 awards were presented at the highly-anticipated Flame Awards 2015. The prestigious awards ceremony – which is sponsored by Matrix Fitness – took place at Telford International Centre. As ever, they were held in conjunction with the annual Flame Conference – which this year saw Champion Jockey AP McCoy deliver a keynote speech, while there were also speeches from Debra Searle and new ukactive chair Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson. Following the success of last year’s rejigged format, there were again 14 award categories to recognise facilities, suppliers, operators, educational institutes, health practitioners and large corporations, that have demonstrated exceptional standards. One of the standout features of the awards sees all entrants receive individualised assessment reports which include national benchmarking data based on analysis of information received from more than 100 leisure centres and health clubs, translating to 11,774 consumers across the UK. This allows facilities to benchmark their site performance against the national average across key consumer-focused areas such as customer loyalty, commitment, belonging, warmth, staff attitude, equipment and facilities. “After months of detailed assessments of each entrant, the winners have finally been rewarded with their Flame Awards. They are all extremely worthy winners,” said ukactive executive director Steven Ward. “I would like to congratulate everyone who entered this year and especially the finalists for reaching this stage. The assessment process has been established as exceptionally rigorous and this year it was even tougher so all the winners should be very proud of what they have achieved.” The full list of winners: Supplier of the Year Promote PR Shaping Young Lives Mytime Active Healthy Partnerships Activity Sheffield, Miracle Cure Project Go Outdoors 1Life, St Albans Half Marathon Spark of Innovation GymCube Go Green 1Life Workplace Wellbeing Southampton Solent University, Solent Health Spark Health Club Operator of the Year The Club Company Leisure Centre Operator of the Year Places for People Leisure Spirit of Flame Sarah Denning, Les Mills UK Health Club of the Year (Multi-use) Benton Hall Golf & Country Club, The Club Company Health Club of the Year (Streamline) Spirit Health Club Gloucester Leisure Centre of the Year (Multi-use) Maltby Leisure Centre, Places for People Leisure Leisure Centre of the Year (Streamline) Stradbroke Swim & Fitness Centre, Everyone Active Outstanding Achievement PureGym, Operator of the Year Sony & Halo Leisure, Workplace Wellbeing 3-1-5 X-Force, Spark of Innovation Close Window |
