North Yorkshire, England-based luxury castle hotel Swinton Park has named Emma Franklin as spa manager of the new Country Club & Spa, due to open in late 2016.

Franklin began her career working for Royal Caribbean onboard cruise ships, and has also worked as spa manager at Park Hyatt Tokyo and Grand Hyatt Dubai, as well as medi spa manager at A Vita Medi Spa in England.

“Emma’s knowledge, skills and ability will play an important role in our new spa, we are pleased she has chosen to join our team and look forward to her taking the spa to new levels,” said Claire Jones, general manager of Swinton Park.

Swinton Park Country Club and Spa, a £5.5m (US$8.3m, €7.7m), 2,700sq m (29,063sq ft) development on the 20,000-acre country estate, will include a spa with pre-treatment consultation zone, six therapy rooms, a private therapy suite, a rasul treatment room, three different types of heat experiences, a wellness pool and a post-treatment relaxation room, as well as an indoor swimming pool, gym and studio alongside dedicated family and disabled changing.

The extension will involve the restoration of traditional workshops and garden buildings that are adjacent to the Grade II-listed 31-bedroom castle hotel, in addition to the creation of a new wing that is to be built within a walled garden.

The Country Club & Spa will also offer a 40-seat conservatory restaurant, coffee shop and Swinton Estate shop, whose patrons can also enjoy the 200 acres of surrounding parkland, lakes and gardens. The Country Club will afford access to activities on the wider 20,000 acre Swinton Estate including cycling, walking, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, golf, falconry and horse riding.
