Restaurants and a hotel to feature at Philippe Starck's tree-topped hub for healthy living

Philippe Starck has revealed a new leisure concept centred around wellness and healthy living.

'Villa M' is a restaurant, hotel and training space exclusive to medical professionals, caregivers, patients, students and innovators working in the world of health and fitness. The building is being developed by health insurance company Groupe Pasteur Mutualité in the centre of Paris.

The French designer’s concept is to allow visitors to learn about and medical advances in a relaxed and modern environment with familiar leisure amenities.

The eight storey building will be covered in foliage and trees will sit on the rooftop in an attempt by Starck to represent the relationship between the natural world and our own health and wellbeing.

“It’s an honour and an opportunity to work on Villa M,” he said. “It finally gives me the chance to do something I’ve long wanted to do. While design can embellish life, it can’t save lives. But here I’ve had the opportunity to work on a vital machine centred around life.”
