Six Senses to take over management of Canyon Ranch Kaplankaya

It has been open less than a year, but Canyon Ranch’s first location outside of the US will soon change hands, with Six Senses taking over management of the property in May 2017.

The Canyon Ranch Kaplankaya opened in July 2016 on the Turkish Riviera near Bodrum, and includes 141 bedrooms and a 107,000sq ft (9,941sqm) spa, fitness and Health & Healing Centre with 38 treatment rooms.

Canyon Ranch Kaplankaya was a significant step in the company’s nearly 40-year history, marking its first international location, but an attempted Turkish coup d'état just two weeks after the resort’s opening made for challenging timing.

Designed by Barcelona-based OAB architects and owned by Capital Partners of Turkey, the resort also includes 154 private residences and is constructed with environmentally-conscious materials and finished to complement the surrounding scenery of the Aegean Coast.

“Over the next year, the design, environmental and wellness operations will be enhanced to bring the blessings of Six Senses to the beaches of Kaplankaya,” said Bernhard Bohnenberger, president of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas.

Six Senses has aggressive development plans that will triple its portfolio over the next five years with resort, hotel and spa openings underway in Austria, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Egypt, Fiji, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Nicaragua, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and the US.
