Minor Hotel Group enters Mauritius with Avani spa resort

Minor Hotel Group has revealed plans to operate its first property in Mauritius after securing a management contract for a new development, currently under construction on the island’s south coast.

To be operated under its lifestyle Avani Hotels & Resorts brand, Avani Mauritius Bel-Ombre Resort & Spa will feature 150 guest rooms, including 134 standard rooms and 16 Avani suites. The development – owned by KPMM Mauritius – will also house 12 residential, four-bedroom pool villas.

At the heart of the resort – which is scheduled to open in 2021 – will an Avani Spa.

While the exact details of the spa are yet to be confirmed, the spa will include a number of treatment rooms offering Avani’s signature treatments which look to “boost, balance, calm and purify." The Avani brand has been designed to appeal to Millennial-minded travellers and is among Minor’s fastest growing brands.

Alejandro Bernabe, group director of Avani Hotels & Resorts, said: “Avani is rapidly expanding, not only in urban destinations, but also our current resort portfolio in Vietnam, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka and now Mauritius.”

Avani currently operates 18 properties. Minor has plans to further grow the brand across Asia, the Indian Ocean and the Middle East.
