Stranger Things pop-up coming to Toronto this weekend

Netflix is hosting a pop-up exhibition in Toronto, Canada, this weekend, with the city playing host to an art installation recreating the “Upside Down” from the streaming giant’s hit show Stranger Things.

The installation is part of efforts to promote the second season of Stranger Things, a supernatural mystery about the disappearance of a young boy, which returns next month.

The interactive experience – part of the city’s Nuit Blanche festival – will see visitors explore an underground walkway near the city’s Osgoode Hall, where they will wear hazmat suits to protect them from a unknown sticky “maple syrup-like” substance.

Netflix says the Upside Down installation will feature signature sights from the alternate reality, such as trees with bikes growing out of them, as well as elements of other Netflix IPs, such as Riverdale and Bright.

After exploring the forest, guests will go into a version of the Twilight Drive-In from Riverdale, where they can sit in the cars, check out what’s playing on the screen and even charge their mobile devices.

The 12th annual city-wide Nuit Blanche arts event starts at 6:58pm tomorrow (30 September) until sunrise the next day. 90 projects are set up in public spaces across the city, addressing the theme of “Many Possible Futures”.
