Sleep announces new programme to shape hotel design

Numerous studies suggest that hotel guest loyalty is influenced by environment, sensory stimuli, meaningful experiences and discovery. Now, Sleep, Europe’s hotel design and development event, will be exploring ‘Loyalty: Lessons in Love’ this November, between the 21 and 22 at the Business Design Centre in London.

Sleep combines a conference, concept room installations and an international exhibition of over 150 suppliers who are a cross-pollination of Sleep veterans and newcomers. There is also Spaces, which showcases interior collections in hotel settings, and will this year involve 19 major name manufacturers.

The Sleep Set competition sees leading design practices translate the year’s theme into physical hotel environments. The four participating firms for 2017 have been selected for their diverse experience and global cultures. They are: Italian company, Il Prisma, 1508 London, MKV Design and Stonehill & Taylor from New York. Design and Architecture studio, Sundukovy Sisters, from Moscow are designing the Sleeper Bar.

As always, Sleep will be seeking to move the conversation on with new ideas, technological innovation, customised design and information exchange across all its components. The free-to-attend conference is promising a compelling combination of panel discussions, roundtable conversations and rare opportunities to hear from some of the industry’s most influential designers, including Tristan Auer, Jeffrey Beers and the design duo, Maria Warner Wong and Wong Chiu Man, co-founders of WOW Architects. Panel topics include “post cool” hotels, F&B trends, hotel brand identity and a look at the hotel investment and development horizon.

Such is the status of Sleep in the international hospitality design arena that many companies choose to launch their newest products at the event. This year, among many others, expect to find the first-ever carpet collection by Kelly Hoppen MBE designed and manufactured in collaboration with Brintons, two new spectacular technology-enabled glass lighting fixtures from Sans Souci and new indoor and outdoor furniture from Serralunga, including the Cassero Collection designed by Patricia Urquiola.
